Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Accessory Dwelling Units represent a viable strategy for providing affordable housing in the Monterey Bay Region at a unit cost lower than high-rise apartment buildings. But navigating the tricky shoals involved in building an ADU in the Monterey Bay Region is not simple. Regulations differ from one city or county to the next, costs are high and financing and construction are often more difficult than they need to be.

The Napa Sonoma ADU Center ((https://napasonomaadu.org/) is a fiscally-sponsored project of Napa Valley community Foundation with support from Community Foundation Sonoma County and others. It is designed to assist homeowners and builders in those two counties in deciding whether to build an ADU and how to proceed in doing so.

The Monterey Bay Region would benefit greatly from a similar organization. I would like to invite you to participate in an online meeting, from 1-2 PM on Thursday, May 13th, to discuss creation of a Monterey Bay Region agency or organization along the lines of Napa Sonoma ADU. This meeting is an initiative of the Sustainable Systems Research Foundation, a non-profit green organization in Santa Cruz (https://sustainablesystemsfoundation.org/).

If you plan to attend, please  contact beatrizs@sustainabilityresearch.onmicrosoft.com to RSVP

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the meeting.

Best,
